Sleep: the Brain's Way of a Bath and Tips for Betterment

Hi guys! so we've been hearing that sleep is necessary for quite a matter of time now. The question that arises is how does sleep help, what is the scientific theory for this? Being young we need explanations, or else we get bored of the adults scolding us on seemingly petty issues, so I searched for an answer to this question and this is what I found out.

When we are awake and our conscious is working, small metabolic toxins develop in the spaces between are brain cells. This does not allow our brain to function properly. This also makes it harder for us to learn or study something.

But there is a way to get rid of these toxins which do not let you think. The way is sleep. When you sleep the size of your neural cells automatically decreases, hence increasing the space in between them. This allows a fluid to pass through your brain from the very back of your head. This fluid cleanses your mind so that you wake up refreshed and also so that you are able to think clearly. Without an appropriate amount of sleep (that is 9-10 hours a day) you can barely manage to think.

What if you don't sleep? Well these toxins in your brain don't just momentarily disrupt your thinking process but they also harm your health. Because of lack of sleep people suffer from intense headaches, heart disease is also caused. Stress, anxiety, depression, weight gain or loss, diabetes, premature aging and dying young, are all guests invited by the toxins in your brain.

So dear fellow teenagers, sleep may seem like a waste of time but trust me it is necessary. It took me some time time to let it sink into my brain and only now have I stopped (to some extent) staying up at night. :D

But keep in mind, do not in any case oversleep! Oversleeping has the same effects on your health as lack of sleep does and I am sure you do not want to die in the prime of your age. Nine hours of sleep is enough for a person per day, no more, no less. Out of these nine hours four hours should be spent constantly unconscious. If you awaken many times at night then try to do some of these:

  • Make sure you turn of the light, even if you are afraid of the dark.
  • Try reciting something of religious importance.
  • You can read something before you get to bed but remember, you shouldn't lie in bed and read as that interferes with your sleep.
  • Exert yourself more physically over the day.
  •  Try drinking a warm cup of milk or green tea before sleeping.
  • Lastly think happy thoughts and do not stress about the next day or the day before. Even if there's a test tomorrow.

  1. Very informative! :D I didn't know most of this! Sleep is vital for every living human, but you're right, oversleeping isn't good either. XD I've also been reading facts about sleeping and dreams... they're really interesting! I don't know if you've read about them? You can find info about it in scientific books. It's worth looking at! :D
    Keep posting!

The Latest News of Pakistan: Heat, Death and Rainmaking

Karachi, Friday 26th: Lately, death has taken its toll in the province of Sindh. Sinch last week over two thousand people have died due to heat strokes or droughts, and load shedding only adds to the misery. The heat of June has been growing unbearable for the public, with no rain and less winds. Thus the government of Pakistan and the NDMA(Natural Disaster Management Authority) have decided to try out cloud seeding for the first time in Pakistan. But what is cloud seeding? Cloud Seeding is also known as chemical rain, rainmaking, or artificial precipitation. Cloud Seeding is away to produce artificial rain, mostly done to avoid droughts, increase reservoir irrigation water, increase water supply capacity or to increase water levels for power generation. Cloud Seeding is done by using air planes or rockets which sow into the clouds catalysts such as dry ice, silver iodide and salt powder. These catalysts induce nucleation and what little water is in the air condenses and crystall

And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.” ― Apple Inc.  “I am so clever that sometimes I don't understand a single word of what I am saying.” ― Oscar Wilde  “If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.” ― J.K.
