In Review: Meeting Muhammad (SAW)

I had to write this review around a month ago, but better late then never. So here goes...

We have all studied the life, character and the actions of the Prophet (SAW) at some point in our lives. I felt truly inspired by his character. The events from  his life that we came across on social media, through a class, through an elder were nothing short of beautiful. But I did not know that I was missing on a true connection until this Ramadan.

Earlier, I did find the character of the Prophet (SAW) very inspiring, very motivating but rarely did I laugh and cry while learning about him.

This Ramadan I watched Yaqeen Institute's series on Meeting Muhammad(SAW). Spread over 30 episodes which were uploaded daily in Ramadan, it was the most beautiful and insightful series on Seerah that I have watched yet. Not even the books I have read could take me so deep into the life, the actions and the reasons behind those actions of the Prophet (SAW).

Starting from the physical appearance of the Holy Prophet(SAW), Dr. Omar Suleiman took us through various situations with the Holy Prophet(SAW) and his way of speech was such that he made us imagine ourselves with the Holy Prophet(SAW) in those situations so that, by the end of the course he had us feeling that we had actually met him(SAW), hosted him, laughed with him and cried with him.

And we really did cry and laugh while watching the series. We dived deep into the details of events which are usually not discussed in detail. One such example was when he discussed the death of the Prophet's (SAW) last son Ibrahim and why it was such a significant event. As compared to the books I have read earlier where we just learn that Ibrahim was the son of Maria Qibtiya, and that he died in infancy. But when Dr. Omar Suleiman talked about Ibrahim, it was the most moving account of his birth and death that I ever came across.

Another wonderful thing about the series is that the videos are short, barely over 7 minutes each, comprehensive yet complete. They are subtitled for those who prefer reading over listening and are backed by verses from the Qur'an and Ahadith of the Prophet(SAW).

I think what really matters when talking about Islam and the perfect role model (SAW) is the attitude of the speaker. And one thing I like about Dr. Omar Suleiman is the constant smile on his face and his soft spoken attitude. His way of talking is such that if you happen to hear him talking about anything you automatically want to listen to more. May Allah give all Islamic speakers speech and manners like that. Aameen!

The series is a must watch for all those interested in learning about the Prophet's (SAW) life and character. It is also a useful resource for Islamiyat teachers, I myself have been using the videos for my classes since the past month.

Yaqeen Institute did a similar series in Ramadan 2020 - Angels in Our Presence- and that is the next thing on my watch list.

Have you watched any if these two series? What do you think about them?

The Latest News of Pakistan: Heat, Death and Rainmaking

Karachi, Friday 26th: Lately, death has taken its toll in the province of Sindh. Sinch last week over two thousand people have died due to heat strokes or droughts, and load shedding only adds to the misery. The heat of June has been growing unbearable for the public, with no rain and less winds. Thus the government of Pakistan and the NDMA(Natural Disaster Management Authority) have decided to try out cloud seeding for the first time in Pakistan. But what is cloud seeding? Cloud Seeding is also known as chemical rain, rainmaking, or artificial precipitation. Cloud Seeding is away to produce artificial rain, mostly done to avoid droughts, increase reservoir irrigation water, increase water supply capacity or to increase water levels for power generation. Cloud Seeding is done by using air planes or rockets which sow into the clouds catalysts such as dry ice, silver iodide and salt powder. These catalysts induce nucleation and what little water is in the air condenses and crystall

And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.
